2015 Opening Day

Willards Little League kicked off the 2015 Baseball and Softball season on Saturday, April 11th.  Willards Little League has over 300 children participating on 29 teams this year ranging in age from 3 yrs old (league age 4) in Tee Ball to 16 yrs old in our Senior Baseball League.

Our day began with floats, boats and firetrucks as our teams participated in our Opening Day parade.  We saw some very creative floats and displays as our teams paraded past throwing out candy and singing cheers. The parade began on Main Street and made it’s way down Market Street and Park Drive before ending at our main complex.

Thank you to all of our Opening Day Participants!  McKenna Linzey did a fantastic job with her solo performance of our National Anthem.  Thanks to Evan Ritz and Gia Boyer for helping with our Little League Player and Parent Pledges. Thanks to Cub Scout Pack 834 scouts Jacob Ritz, Cameron Witcher and Evan Sollars for their Flag Ceremony presentation and leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Finally a huge thank you to Pastor Ray Rogers of Ayers United Methodist Church for providing our invocation prayer.  And last but not least, thank you to Caleb Moore from the Mudcats for yelling “Play Ball” to get our season started.

Congratulations to our “first pitch” recipient, Ms Sarah Burton!  Ms. Burton was named Pittsville Elementary’s Teacher of the Year.
