Rhyne Taylor Fundraisers

RhyneWillards Little League held 2 separate fundraisers for Rhyne Taylor, an 11 year old softball player in our Major League division diagnosed with a brain tumor in April.

Our first fundraiser was a silent auction held during our annual Hitting Derby fund raiser. The auction consisted of over 75 donated items from both individuals and local businesses and had close to 200 participants placing at least one bid. In addition to the auction, Scouts and parents from Pittsville’s Pack 834 sold baked goods throughout the day, surprising everyone with their success.

Our second fund raiser was selling tickets, preparing, cooking and serving chicken platter meals consisting of a bbq half chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, chips and a roll. With your help, our league sold over 200 platters!

I’m so proud of our league! Through these fundraisers, we showed that we are more than just a baseball and softball league… we’re a community. We came together and selflessly donated our time, efforts, auction items and money to help ease any financial burdens the Taylor’s may face in the near future by raising a total of $4,862!!!

I recently visited the Taylors and am happy to report that Rhyne is doing great. She is doing her best to get back to school, but missed last week due to her first round of chemotherapy. Rhyne will continue chemotherapy treatments for the near future through a port she had placed in early May. Rhyne was in great spirits, looked awesome, and was full of smiles.

As our season comes to an end, please continue to keep the Rhyne and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
